presentation of the GRANPASSO 1200 2012
the GranPasso is one of the models returning to the Morini catalog. There are very few changes to report, except for one major one: the price. The trail bike has been lightened by over 1,600 euros, without losing its Öhlins. A fine argument in a sector where the competition is fiercer than ever. The BMW R 1200 GS continues to dominate the market, setting the benchmark. Many different types of machines and engines are competing against it. For its part, Morini has opted for a sportier approach without forgetting the road/trail aspect.
A wide, comfort-inspiring saddle, long-travel suspension, tubeless spoked rims with mixed tires, a windscreen with a certain protective disposition, a 25-liter fuel tank and an engine cowl: the Gran Passo seems ready for touring, and even a bit of trail riding. The optional suitcases, GPS, heated grips, etc. won't make you shy away from the miles.
but an Italian car is above all distinguished by its temperament. And sportiness and character have not been sidelined on the Morini Trail. Its chiseled, aggressive build has none of the gentility of a Versys 1000 or Super-T. The styling (from the Marabese Design studio) is bold and daring, even disturbing with its lenticular headlights - a matter of taste - and does the essential:
Apart from their travel, the suspensions are more reminiscent of a hypersport than a trail bike: side-mounted Öhlins shock absorbers with adjustable compression, preload, rebound and height, 50 mm-diameter upside-down forks -> this Italian trail bike promises to be highly efficient. The braking system is wiser, more suited to this type of machine: 2-piston Brembo calipers bite into 2 front 298 mm-diameter discs, but controlled by a radial pump.
the Gran Passo loves a good thrashing, and won't really want to be out and about with the Crosstourer or Tiger Explorer. It'd much rather take on the Multistrada, 1200 Dorsoduro and 1130 Tre-K.

You either like it or you don't. I love and adore it. It's simple yet technical (Ohlins, Brembo, etc.), sporty and comfortable ....I'm going to try one out in 10 days ....as the owner of a Ducat multistrada 1000. And above all, the price with the equipment (suitcases, heated grips, helmet, various leather jackets and pants)
i really think I'm going to fall for it Rating : 5/5 Respond to pascal43
It's a marvel of versatility, in town where it goes everywhere, on small roads where it's like a bike, and on main roads where it swallows up mile after mile with its giant tank, without tiring.
It's powerful, melodious and very reliable.
Its drawbacks: it can consume a lot of fuel in town, but not on the road.
i think it's the best in its segment. Rating : 5/5 Respond to Up
