presentation of the V 85 TT 2022

If there's one trail bike that has stood out with panache in recent years, it's the V 85 TT. Typically neo-retro, not too powerful but lively as we like it, proud, a little charismatic and fun to ride, the Guzzi let the monsters of power and technology get away. It presents itself as a trail bike à la Dolce Vita. Which suits it just fine.
It's not yet time for evolution, but the firm from Mandello has given it an update. In addition to passing Euro5, its twin boasts more low- and mid-range torque. A welcome boost, thanks to improved cams and adapted engine electronics. However, the power output has taken a beating - the trail bike now boasts 76 hp.

The V 85 TT adds two driving modes. A 'Sport' for more dynamic riding, and a 'Custom' that the rider can adapt as he or she wishes.
Another change that many will praise is the wheels. Spoke rims can now be fitted with tubeless tires. This greatly enriches the range of tires that can be fitted. What's more, they save 1.5 kg in total weight. The spiked eagle has a lot going for it.

The trail segment has seen its touring and power claims explode in recent years. The range is almost endless, from GT to sporty, from full-road to off-road, from crossover to totally bobo. In short, there's something for every taste and beyond. Guzzi wants to reinvest in the category, making a clean sweep of the Stelvio episode. The result is the V85 TT, a machine with sweet retro accents, quirky charm and unsuppressed desires. A trail bike that wants and needs to go its own way.

Moto-Guzzi V 85 TTthis machine gives us the impression of rediscovering the segment. It's as if Guzzi saw the trail bike differently. The Italian brand is well aware that going head-to-head would cause it to lose teeth. There's no need to go after the R 1250 GS, which has too much of a reputation. Provoke the KTM Adventure and Ducati Multistrada? You might as well run a 400 m race with a gas bottle in each shoe. Squeeze in between a Honda and a Triumph, or get chummy with a Suz'? No, no, the V 85 has found its own identity and philosophy, a blend of classic, off-road, road and technology. In a way, it takes up the spirit of the old NTXs, even drawing inspiration from the V 65 TT.

Eternally, the Guzzi engine only conceives of its existence by showing its curves on the outside of a neckline. The V 85's block is derived from that of the V9s... with a heavy dose of pick-me-up. This 853 cm3 developed 55 hp on the old Bobbers and Roamers; it climbed to 80 hp on the trail bike before it was subjected to the E5. The standard takes 4 out of it, but that doesn't seem to bother him much
Compared to the V9 block, the 2-valve-per-cylinder twin benefits from new crankcases, a lightened crankshaft, titanium intake valves, a higher compression ratio, a reinforced flywheel and alternator, 52 mm fuel injection (38 mm on the V9), and new pistons and connecting rods. Maximum torque is announced at 8.4 mkg, 90% of which will be available from 3,750 rpm. Proud of its work on the engine, Guzzi claims that this is its first engine capable of "easily" reaching 8,000 rpm - 300 km away, another V-engine can slam 16,500 rpm... Not at all the same trip, but it shows the relativity you have to have when approaching the mechanical chapter of a Guzzi. On the transmission side, efforts have focused on a new clutch disc, the introduction of a synchronizer to reduce gear noise, and new gear ratios. A rare feature at this displacement level, the final drive is provided by a universal joint. Rare? Er... actually unique. If you put it in the same category as the F 750 / 850 GS, Tiger 850 Sport or 650 V-Strom, it's the only one to do without a chain.

Moto-Guzzi V 85 TTthe Guzzi V 85 TT smells of the countryside, whispers of walks through woods and over rocks, and looks like it grew up in a barn. Yet you won't find a roller counter or choke control on board. Instead, you'll find a full-color TFT screen, packed with information. To its left is a USB port, handy for plugging in the GPS; if you need to connect anything else, a second one is provided under the seat.
If you've got a modern dashboard, you've got engine management that's far more technological than simple fuel injection. The twin's behavior can be tuned under 5 partitions, called 'Road', 'Rain', 'Off-Road', 'Sport' and 'Custom'. The ABS and traction control are activated with varying degrees of insistence. Cruise control is also standard.
Modernity is also expressed in the symbolic daytime visual signature, with wide-open wings within the double headlamp lens. A beautiful expression of the flight of an eagle, the brand's symbol.

The V 85's chassis is designed to give an impression of robustness. As if even the worst excursions were just a means of asserting itself. How do you like the tubular headlight support? The same goes for the rear frame. In the "festive" color, red has taken hold of the steel tubing, all the way to the end of the frame. The frame uses the engine as a support to increase rigidity and reduce weight, avoiding the need for a cradle structure.
The rear shock absorber also stands out from the crowd by being positioned laterally. It's nothing new, as the Morini Gran Passo and Kawa ER-6n have also used it. But it's always effective, and facilitates access to preload adjustment. Front suspension is handled by a 41 mm inverted fork.

Moto-Guzzi V 85 TT like most trail bikes, the Guzzi is not a pure off-road machine. It's primarily designed for road use, but its equipment allows for a few incursions. Spoke rims are judicious, with reasonable tire sizes on 19" front and 17" rear rims. Its 170 mm of suspension travel is average for the sector - and its ground clearance, at 210 mm from the ground, is interesting. With the addition of an aluminum hoof as standard, there's already less fear of unusual off-road critters (stones, pumice and lice).
Braking is in the Italian tradition, with some pretty hefty hardware: two 320 mm discs gripped by Brembo 4-piston radial-mount calipers. What's in back? A 260 mm disc with two pistons in ambush.

At 209 kilos, it's not particularly light for a trail bike. Still, it's about average for the category. Arg, guys like me really need to put aside this image of the trail bike personified by the XT 500 and its 140 kilos. A little reflection on 400 km should temper all that - that's the advertised range with the 23-liter tank. It would also allow us to judge the protection offered on board, which should be more than adequate. The sides of the tank and the prominence of the cylinder heads will protect the knees, the handguards.... the hands, and the adjustable bubble will relieve the chest.

The trail is everywhere. Too much choice kills choice? That's probably why Moto-Guzzi offers the V 85 TT. A bold statement in the segment, more assertive than BMW'sUrban GS, which is above all an off-road NineT. Mandello's eagle should make its mark with its trail-neo-classic appeal and character. All that remains is to confirm its real on- and off-road versatility.

Hello, I love this bike and am considering a purchase. Could you tell me if the heat from the cylinders is unbearable for the legs in town? And what about the protection on the freeway? I frequently go down from Arcachon to Biarritz on the freeway. Thank you for your answers. Good riding and be careful Rating : 5/5

No problem of excessive heat, a bike that just wants to ride, well sheltered behind the adjustable bubble, I'm very happy and yet I had big sportbikes, I'm going on a roadtrip in the Pyrenees Rating : 5/5
French JHLA94
The engine temperature is slightly noticeable in summer, but not at all annoying. In town, there's no heat build-up (the cylinders are well up front). On the other hand, its aerodynamics are its weak point (improved on the 2024 model year). It's clearly not a highway cruiser. Its short 6th gear pushes fuel consumption up to 7l/100 km at 130 km/h. For freeway cruising or long stretches at continuous speed, I prefer my 850RT. Rating : 5/5

After having had GT sports (1400ZZR, Ayabuza, CBR1100, 1250 Bandit, etc.) I have just bought this V85TT and what happiness, I bought it to make a roadtrip this summer, I already made 300kms on road and ways, virées with the buddies, a little of arsouille, the motor bike has everything to make, brilliant, I am going to sell my Niken which is too heavy, Thank you Moto Guzzi, hesitate no more if you want to roll while benefitting a max of this motor bike VVVVVV Rating : 5/5

Hello, I've been riding this machine for almost a year now and I have no regrets. My 1st impression of the V85TT was immediately the right one after trying 2 other road trails. Mine dates back to July 2020, purchased at a Rhône-Alpes dealership with 14,000 km on the clock. Since then, I've been nothing but happy, with a talented tourer, very effective braking (even with ABS when needed), a smooth, torquey engine that means I don't have to fiddle with the gearbox all the time, roadholding that's up to my high standards, and no difficulty getting it around corners, even when loaded. No surprises on fuel consumption, and a very functional display. A motorcycle made for long-distance cruising, without wringing out the grip, and very stable on the freeway, even in windy conditions (PACA = Mistral). It's a reliable tourer with a good temperament. On my CG, 229 kg unladen and 448 kg GVW. Allow for a full tank of 23L (manufacturer's data). Good driving to all. Rating : 5/5

Hummmmm already 50,000 km of pleasure. A comfortable, generous bike that's so pleasant on back roads. My first bike, 1975... And my V85 is in the top three. Despite 11 years of gold, 6 of FJR, XJR 1200 hummmmm also in the trio, TDM, Diversion 900... I love this V85TT, so playful and generous. No need to gas to have fun. Be careful, if you try it you might fall in love with it hihihi . Enjoy your discovery! Rating : 5/5

Hello everyone, I've just bought a new V85TT model 2022 euro5, I was skeptical with only 76hp and in fact the engine is very dynamic, smooth at low revs and torquey, it is very responsive for upshifts, living in the Var I really take a lot of pleasure on small winding roads, it's a real bike, consumption between 4 and 4.5 liters I take more pleasure than on my Vmax 1700 in 200 hp that I had before!i've just bought an Arrow catalytic converter that I'm going to fit with the original muffler after the 1st 1500km service (currently 600km done), which will enable me to recover at least the 4 horsepower or even a little more, especially for next summer when the intense heat accumulated by the catalytic converter!
What's more, the original dual-lens full-LED lighting is very efficient, so you don't have to add additional headlights like on other machines
I really advise you to give it a try!
Bonne route à tous

At last, a real motorcycle! With character, comfortable and so much fun to ride!
I bought a Model 2021 registered in January 2022 at 3200 km (previous owner not well installed, leg pain on long distance) in June. Vacation in Alsace, loaded up and with 2 people: 2300 km, 4.4 l /100 and in good comfort (my wife found it comfortable and never had a sore bottom)
I have no regrets, it's a very endearing bike, and it's more than up to the job on our roads!

20,000km with the 2019 model, still so delighted that I'd take back a 2022, even with its 4 hp less. As mentioned everywhere, a Guzzi is made in Mandello, you can visit the factory and see that it provides a living for an entire region, in two words, it quickly becomes a passion. For me, it's the technical simplicity, ease of riding, comfort on any type of road, low cost per KM and specific temperament that make me ready to move on to the next model. Why do so many of them sell for so few KM? I think guys aren't thinking clearly when they buy a car, they don't keep it long enough to appreciate it, and their little ego takes a hit when they're overtaken, probably by a GS, at twice the price, with 30% more on-board technology and with almost 2L more per 100 km! and then, finally, why are there so many GS for sale with so few KM???? This winter, I'm thinking about changing my bike! I'm currently on a 2012 diavel. Well for the vacations it's not the feet ... for the rest yes! Lol this v85 is just the opposite, but I'm going to try it out, I'm curious, but the other curiosity is why are there so many on the second-hand market? Wouldn't it be a bit boring in the medium term? Because many of them can be resold with only a few kilometers on the clock! For example, I change my bike after 40,000 km, and usually not even after 60,000! I find that questioning? But in any case, very nice bike! Rating : 5/5

1.70m, not convinced by the low saddle, which hurt my lumbar region, I put the original saddle back on and put on "docs" with thick soles to raise me up and put my feet flat
since then, I've really enjoyed this light bike (I'm leaving an RT), which is great fun to ride both solo and in a duo
And that includes small, winding mountain roads, where it excels in terms of handling, torque and acceleration
Not to be overlooked: the passenger really appreciates it!

Berti.one Hello,
I've been riding a motorcycle since 1974, and a moped before that (MDR), but when you love it, you don't count!
So I'm getting a bit old --- I've had 2 Yamaha > 3 Kawa in two stages ----
Then in 4 stages: 2 Kawa > 3 Ducati
Now for over 10 years 1 Ducat 1200 Multi and for 3 years 1 BMW 1250 RT
I've always had the Banana on one or the other -----///
But I can't keep the 2 anymore!
So I have to make a choice: if I keep the Ducat, my wife won't ride behind me anymore - if I keep the RT, I won't have the same pleasure on my own (...) if I sell the 2, I'll need a good _____/// included
Could the 85 TT do it?
Sincerely

A quand une 7ème vitesse OD pour les quelques moments d'autoroute
The final gear ratio in 6th gear is too short (5000 rpm at 130 rpm) for comfortable cruising on a freeway to reach the chosen travel zone
I'd like something closer to my 1973 V7 Sport (with long-stroke cylinder): 160km/h for 4000 rpm and plenty of torque. It was a blast on the freeways!

I've owned a beautiful blue V85TT since August, and I agree with other opinions, because this is a motorcycle for pleasure. I've ridden it on mountain roads, freeways, main roads, dirt roads, with or without rain
Even as a duo, it's magical. And, without wishing to boast, it's no slouch when it comes to cornering.... Admittedly, 80 cokes may be too soft, but with a little revving, the pleasure is there. As a side note, take to the roads of Sardinia, it's magical, but of course, with your Guzzi eagle.

Very happy owner of a V85TT Rosso Kalahari (red and white) since August 14th and already 5,300 km covered. Exceptional finish and great class, making you forget all about getting drunk on the asses of other motorcycles that overtake you at full speed. Mind you, it's not a calf - it's been clocked at 195 km/h on the certificate, but you don't even think about pushing it that far. It's la dolce vita! In short, the ideal philosophy for today's mobility and traffic density. It won't make you blow up your license, and you'll have a banana ;-)It's driving in style, and you don't give a damn about the others ...
I opted for the low seat and high bubble, and it's impeccable, especially as the low seat uses a different padding technology than the original, which makes it more comfortable even though it's thinner. A bit of a pain in the ass after 200 km with the original saddle, but nothing at all with the "3D comfort" low saddle
In short, I'm in love with it, and it doesn't go unnoticed by admiring and questioning passers-by!

First guzzi for me, and the sensations are top-notch: a comfortable position, anchored to the road and responsive with a lively engine, just what I was looking for. It's true that the bubble doesn't protect the rider and creates turbulence, but there's another small flaw: the heat emitted by the cylinders is too much for the calves, but I think this will be an asset in cooler weather. This bike makes you want to ride without stopping, my passenger is comfortable in a duo and also appreciates the smooth ride you can get with this engine. In short, for me, a recent acquisition in the magnificent Sahara color and very good sensations to be confirmed on long trips. Rating : 5/5

I've had every kind of bike: Hornet 2001, SV1000S, Forty-eight, Street bob special....
I've ridden many others...
The V85TT, which I've had since March 30, 2019, is without a doubt the best machine I've ridden, and owned.

Incredible balance, handling, frame/suspension consistency, price/equipment/finish ratio..

Engine qualities: round and supple at low revs, aggressive, reactive and willing at higher revs, with a different sound that suits both.

Added to this, the price of accessories is more than reasonable in the Guzzi catalog (except for the suitcases, which still cost 3 Dahut balls, but the quality is there nonetheless)

And the extra soul of a motorcycle made in small volumes by passionate, meticulous Italian craftsmen, well, it's almost a FAULTLESS.
The only annoying flaw is that it's a bit of a pain to fit the neiman, since the switch is just at the end of the tank under the ^pontet, and the handlebars, once turned, reduce the space available for the operation.
(But that's the only drawback!!)

It remains to be seen how it behaves with a high bubble, what the dual optics are worth at night, and the opinion of the passenger, important points ignored in the pro tests in favor of their personal feelings, too bad!
Now all I have to do is find a dealership open at night and try it out with 2 people...

I'd like to take issue with the choice of rim equipment for non-tubeless tires. Why did Guzzi choose tubeless tires? Rims for tubeless tires allow angled valves (rims on my 1200 Breva), which is very practical when checking air pressure, and in the event of a puncture, the repair kits are super efficient. Following two punctures (900 Div and 1000 GTR) I repaired them twice in record time, and the tires went to maximum wear. I only used a puncture-proof spray once, back when I was riding a 650 Dominator, and I swore I'd never ride with a tire and tube again. Rating : 4/5

As for the weight of the V85 TT, it's all relative. The power-to-weight ratio of 2.6 kg/CV is still very favorable. I'm used to heavier bikes (1000 GTR 70 kg, 900 Diversion 50 Kg, 1200 Breva 25 kg) and can't wait to try out this big bike powered by the Bi en V made in Mandello del Lario. I hope that, like the now-defunct Stelvio, Guzzi will bring out a model with aluminum rims and suitcases for a more on-road model. Rating : 4/5

Yeah, it's very, very nice.
It's almost what bmw should have made, an r80gs, 21-liter tank, gimbal, 80hp, etc.

The downside is the weight, at least 30kg too much, it's 229kg with 90% of the tank (data from the moto guzzi website)
