presentation of the Brutale 1078 RR edition JeanRichard 2009
big names often join forces to exchange or give beautiful alliances. In our little motorcycle microcosm, MV-Agusta likes to fraternize, distinguish and flaunt itself with the posh representatives of luxury and grandeur. Limited series like the Brutales Wally, Hydrogen and Italia make us drool as much as they pulverize the wallet.
with the JeanRichard collection, MV-Agusta signs a partnership of fine craftsmanship and reciprocity. Why JeanRichard? And first of all, who is he?
the year is 1665, in the commune of La Sagne. It was here that a true patron saint of Jura watchmakers was born: Daniel JeanRichard. Legend has it that young Daniel, then a blacksmith's apprentice, first saw a watch brought back from England in the year he turned 15. Daniel studied it, repaired it and set about making a similar one. A year later, he signed his first watch, the first made in the region. It is well established that, in addition to making the first watches, watchmakers owe him the invention of machines and tools fundamental to the profession.
the story is told. And why did we choose this prestigious Swiss watch brand? Well, what could be better than high-precision watches as a sponsor for a speed record attempt on the Bonneville Salt Lake in the USA? On the first day, MV Agusta rider Rosey Lackey set a new FIM record with a speed of 308.5 Km/h, with the new MV-Agusta Brutale Chronoscope on his wrist. The record was repeated 5 days later, but the Italian team had to postpone its tests to the 2009 edition due to the capricious weather. The team intends to come back next year.
now, finally, let's talk about the partnership itself. On the watchmaker's side, 2 special editions of the Chronoscope will be put on the market: 1 series of 290 pieces in rubber and rose gold at €13,100, 1 series of 1,078 pieces in rubber and titanium at €8,950. The 290 refers to the Brutale's speed limit, while the 1078 refers to the roadster's displacement.
On the MV side, a special series in the colors of the chronograph brand will be produced based on the Brutale 1078 RR. Adorned with a sober, cream-colored coffee decor, the motorcycle tends towards high-ranking elegance, while its big 4-cylinder begs to desolder its meters and needles. With its trellis frame, big upside-down forks, pedigree equipment and big gniak reinforced with 154 fiery horses, the Brutale Jean Richard has what it takes to captivate riders and locals alike... provided that the series is ever produced, which seems more than compromised. Apart from the example seen at the 2008 Milan Motor Show, no JeanRichard Brutale 1078 RR has yet left Varese. To be continued...
