presentation of the F4 1000 R 2006
created to make every motorcyclist fantasize, the MV-Agusta F4 has brilliantly fulfilled this mission, to the point of becoming sublime (and unattainable) with the Tamburini and Veltro versions. But the brand from Varese is above all a brand with immense prestige in competition, and it wants to make its mark there again. MV has been making a gradual comeback for some time now, and the experience it has gained has enabled the manufacturer to present an F4 ready for the Stocksport championship: the F4 1000 R.
the "R" doesn't just mean new wheels and a new color. No, it means a lot more than the bike suggests.
First step: the chassis. By working on certain tubes in the trellis frame, engineers were able to reduce weight in certain sections while maintaining overall rigidity. The new forged aluminum rims also contribute to the overall weight reduction, which translates into a loss of 4 kg.
True to its reputation as an impressive machine, the F4 1000 R commands respect with its Superbike-like front end. The 50 mm-diameter Marzocchi forks are fitted with Brembo 4-piston radial calipers. To adapt to the new weight and extra power, the damping laws have been revised to offer greater comfort and efficiency.
extra power? That's right. The radial-valve 4-cylinder engine (with modified inclination) has been given a minor update. New valve timing, new pistons, optimized ducts, new electronics and 8 extra hp put it right up there with Japan's finest. 174 hp come out of the vilo at 11,900 rpm.
black with red trim... The F4 R is provocatively sober. There are just a few minor details to note: dashboard graphics, modified windscreen, new seat cover... nothing glaring, the essential remains: this sublime line, unaffected by the ravages of time.

Nevertheless, one wonders if it won't replace the basic 1000 (I'm dreaming!). It's true that it's presented to us as a racing machine, which of course it is, but on closer inspection, all the variations of the F4 (Corsica, ago...) are monsters! It makes you wonder if this exceptional model isn't the least powerful in the range!
2 basic models and 40 different racing versions! Well, I admit I'm pushing it, but all the same
Finally, this brand is brilliant! Can't wait for my turn..

And compared to a 999 R, it's quite a bargain, isn't it? Rating : 5/5 Respond to tomducat
20kg more than the competition.... Anyway, the power-to-weight ratio is still more than sufficient, and even too much on the road Rating : 5/5 Respond to stuntman
