Nothing is official yet, but the rumor is already sending shockwaves through the off-road paddock. What if Chinese manufacturer ZXMoto were to once again shake up the motorcycle giants by joining the Motocross World Championship grid as early as 2027? If the project were to come to fruition, the impact could be massive.
The MXGP Rumor: An Ambition Still Up in the Air
In the MXGP World Championship paddock, the question is on everyone’s lips, even though the manufacturer’s sports management is cautiously keeping things vague. While rumors suggest an official entry with two bikes—one 250 cm³ and one 450 cm³— no official confirmation from the brand has been issued for 2027 to date.
However, the manufacturer’s recent financial moves make this scenario entirely plausible. According to reports from the Belgian press, ZXMoto has just finalized a funding round with the investment group HSG (HongShan Group), formerly Sequoia Capital China. The investment, estimated at 150 million yuan (approximately 19.1 million euros), would raise the company’s valuation to nearly 765 million euros, up from 139 million at the very beginning of 2026.
While part of these funds would be used to repay debts incurred due to rapid growth (12.7 million euros as of mid-2026), the remaining funds give the manufacturer considerable financial clout to fund new racing programs:
- Production: Exceeding the 10,000-unit monthly production milestone as early as June 2026.
- New Plant: Purchase of land for €6.2 million in Chongqing to eventually produce 500,000 units per year.
- Targeted growth: Estimated 2026 revenue between 255 and 319 million euros.

The previous WorldSSP: A warning to the competition
While the MXGP project has yet to be officially confirmed, recent history is prompting the competition to take the threat very seriously.
In November 2025, at the EICMA show, ZXMoto made its debut in Europe in complete anonymity. The brand immediately announced its surprise entry into World Supersport alongside French rider Valentin Debise. What followed resembled a sporting coup:
- A Blazing Debut: From its very first races on the world circuit, the brand secured its first victories in WorldSSP.
- 2026 Performance: With just four Grand Prix races remaining in the season, Valentin Debise sits in an impressive second place in the overall standings
Seeing a brand that was unknown just a year ago go head-to-head with the established leaders of global speed is proof of its expertise. Repeating this feat on the sand and dirt of the MXGP would be an even more colossal achievement, but ZXMoto has already proven its ability to leapfrog the competition.

2027: Perfect Timing
ZXMoto’s arrival in 2027 would come amid a major shake-up of the off-road paddock. The MXGP World Championship grid is indeed set to undergo a particularly turbulent transfer window:
- Romain Febvre will join the official Ducati MXGP team for 2027 and 2028.
- Ducati will field a formidable racing duo with Romain Febvre and Andrea Bonacorsi.
- Calvin Vlaanderen will leave the Italian team to join Honda Motoblouz SR Motul under the leadership of Josse Sallefranque.
- Guillem Farres will take the next step and move up to the premier MXGP class.
- The American Exodus: Belgian twins Lucas and Sacha Coenen will leave the World Championship to join the AMA Supercross / Pro Motocross Championship with KTM starting in 2027.
In a rapidly changing grid, the potential addition of a new factory team with strong financial backing would dramatically reshuffle the deck.
In France: Commercial expansion is gaining momentum
While we wait to see if ZXMoto’s tires will hit the Grand Prix dirt, the brand continues to expand its commercial presence in France under the leadership of its importer, DIP SAS.
While the ZX500RR sport bike (470 cm³ 4-cylinder engine producing 84 ch) kicked off the European type-approval process, it is the 820RR that is capturing the spotlight. With its 818-cc 3-cylinder engine producing 134.6 ch at 12,000 rpm and weighing 193 kg fully fueled, it showcases the manufacturer’s technical capabilities.
If its commitment to MXGP is confirmed by 2027, ZXMoto will no longer be the surprise brand of EICMA 2025, but a major player capable of shaking up the global hierarchy.
