England is a land of mechanical passion. Prestigious brands were born here; few are still alive, but with great aura. Norton is one such brand. Further afield, other traditions, other manufacturers no less prestigious, another country, almost an island in the middle of the Alps: Switzerland. Little known for its motorcycles (there are only about twenty brands, including Motosacoche), it is much better known for its watchmaking. Breitling, for example, has decided to team up with Norton to create a special edition of the 961 Commando Café Racer.

The calligraphy on the counters is similar to that of the aforementioned chronometers; the watchmaker's B emblem is sewn onto the saddle and repeated on the alternator housing. All of which adds a dose of charisma to this superb model with a timeless heart. Like other Commando models, the pace is set by an 80 hp twin with a bewitching sound. The equipment is top-notch, with a 43 mm inverted fork and Öhlins monoshock, beautiful spoked wheels, Brembo brakes with 320 mm discs gripped by 4-piston radial monobloc calipers; and a sense of the essential that grabs you more than the performance.

on the Alpine side, Breitling offers a Premier B01 Chronograph 42 Norton Edition version of one of its timepieces. The link between the two can be seen on the back of the watch, with the Norton symbol and a Commando design adorning the transparent caseback.
That alone puts the price of a CB 650 R on your wrist.

a bit of prestige, a dose of English history, a zest of Swiss standards for a limited series of 77. Of course, the price has to be considered in more than just figures. Just as was the case for the MV-Agusta 1078 Brutale RR JeanRichard. Especially when the protagonists are more at home in a jewelry store than on the road.
