presentation of the Speed Twin 1200 Café Racer Edition 2026
The 1200 Thruxton has disappeared from the lineup—and in style, as its swan song was the superb RS Final Edition. But the Classic range just isn’t the same without a powerful café racer to top it off.
So Triumph turned its attention to the Speed Twin 1200 RS to, in a way, carry the torch forward, and now offers this special edition Speed Twin 1200 Café Racer Edition.
The Collector’s Dream
Sometimes all it takes is a touch of inspiration to create a successful interpretation. Like this color scheme, where British green elegantly blends with aluminum gray; a combination highlighted by gold trim on the fuel tank and matching seat cowl. Refined, racy, and so British. A race number allows this Speed Twin Café Racer to show off its sporty side. The premium seat with embossed patterns follows this dynamic, while the removal of the passenger footrests invites you to continue this adventure solo.
Triumph has set them aside to be reinstalled if needed. But while said passenger urges you to make the effort, you hardly listen, for you’re already captivated by the machined mirrors, the engine casing badges, the knee grips on the tank; and above all, by the allure of the clip-on handlebars. This is where the sport begins, with your torso and arms leaning over the controls.
The Speed Twin 1200 Café Racer invites its rider to take on the road. Yet this riding position is far from offering the same flavor as the late Thruxton. That bike transported you into the world of British rock and wild races. Its “heir” doesn’t share that vision: unfortunately, as on the standard 1200 Speed Twin (and RS), the instrument cluster doesn’t really fit the vibe of a classic British café racer. We loved the dual analog gauges on the Thruxtons; here, you’ll have to make do with the LCD/TFT display found on the Trident and Tiger. However, this instrument cluster allows for turn-by-turn navigation and phone connectivity, while also featuring a USB-C charging port. Another minor regret is the absence of a dedicated top triple clamp. A machined and polished piece, without the mounting points for the triple clamp brackets, would have looked more premium.

Beneath the Café Racer livery, we find all the attributes of the 1200 Speed Twin RS. We love these little stylistic touches such as the Monza fuel cap, the handlebar-end mirrors, the machined cooling fins, and the attention to detail in both the finish and presentation. Equipping it with spoked wheels would have been a delightful finishing touch—a shame.
On a more dynamic note, the tech package offers safety and electronic features with 3 riding modes, cornering ABS, an electronic shifter, and traction control. On top of that are far more exciting features like the Marzocchi inverted fork and fully adjustable Öhlins shocks, Brembo Stylema brakes, large 320 mm discs, the highly sporty Metzeler Racetec RR K3 tires, and that massive twin-cylinder engine with the build of a rowing machine.
This 1200 HP is a true contender for the Oxford-Cambridge race. Its deep, rich voice accompanies a robust 105 horsepower, cheerfully topped off with 112 Nm of torque. It’s the kind of engine with a smooth, full-bodied temperament—energetic like a thoroughbred horse, not like a track-crazy hothead.

The wheel of emotions
Only 800 units of the Triumph Speed Twin 1200 Café Racer Edition will be produced, each delivered with its own certificate of authenticity. France will be allocated just 65 units.
Fans of beautiful British machines with that “road racing” charm can once again fall in love with a racy Triumph, born of a passion for life. Not everything on board is classic, but just let the charm work its magic. Does the price slap you in the face? What did you expect?!
