Motorcycle specifications Triumph955 SPRINT ST 2004 In the name of his majesty

Sport touring

When it appeared at the end of the last century, the Sprint ST was an elegant and convincing sport-GT. Without fear or reproach, it set out to dethrone the class benchmark, the Honda 800 VFR. It was a daring challenge, but its qualities were equal to its pretensions.
First and foremost, there's the superb, svelte styling, with that little touch that sets British bikes apart from the rest. Very similar in spirit, with the same half-road-half-sport positioning, both the VFR and the Sprint ST have a beautiful fairing, a strong and imperial perimeter frame, a magnificent single-sided frame, and yet, none resembles the other.

In terms of dynamics, the Triumph deserves nothing but praise. The powertrain comes from the sporty Daytona, a bewitching 955 cm3 3-cylinder, revised to offer more torque. With its noise and character, this engine is a true enchantment. A little short on top speed, the ST is uncompromising when it comes to acceleration. The chassis is unflappable, lively and stable, allowing you to cruise with confidence. The Sprint has many sporty genes. Except in terms of comfort, which is quite respectable. With 2 main drawbacks: the somewhat limited protection, and the rear suspension which is too harsh on rough roads. Braking is seriously powerful, with an almost violent bite that may surprise newcomers. Delicate on wet roads.
Unashamedly playful, it can also be taken on a trip without any problems. The passenger will be comfortable, the equipment is complete and the range encouraging. A good finish completes the English car's appeal, and it's also competitively priced. Other European models should follow suit.

French Model 2004
Hello, I've just bought my 955 Sprint and the previous owner had the bike lowered but she doesn't know how the mechanic did it. I need the length of the original shock absorber mounting rod and the dimensions of the triangle. If someone can give them to me, maybe I can find out what was changed at the time! Thank you in advance Rating : 5/5

Hi Phil88 I have a Sprint that I would like to lower. I'm a few months late, but if you're interested in a parts exchange... Rating : 5/5
French
I would like to have the length of the connecting rod and the dimensions of the triangle on your bike so that I can compare them with mine to see if I have the original parts or not! Thank you for your reply and if I don't have the same dimensions, an exchange is of course possible Rating : 4/5
French
I'm waiting for a few parts before starting the modifications on my sprint, and once I've started I'll give you the dimensions. I suggest you send me an e-mail to magnoom@hotmail.fr. It'll be easier to talk things over. Rating : 4/5

i have my triumph in 2000 """without my knowledge""" the dealer debridé136 cv in couple and with friends we made thousands of kms until the resale in 2013 but that happiness recovery, power, comfort, braking nothing to say the only black point is in tight turns not to be surprised (because of the weight) just enough to re-accelerate at the right time but it's a great bike Rating : 5/5

I owned a Sprint RS, an aesthetic clone of the ST a few years ago, and never recovered the sensations I felt on that sublime machine: even on the Alsatian passes, the ultra-sporty machines couldn't let go of me, much to their astonishment. And yet, since then, I've gone through many machines: Aprilia Falcon1000, Honda X11, Guzzi Le Mans 1100, BMW r1150r rocks ter, Aprilia Tuono 1000, and even Yamaha fz1, none of which has ever matched the Triumph's perfection, which is why I've just bought a Sprint 955i ST this time, same engine, same architecture and apart from the single rear arm, same machine and same exceptional ride. Really, nothing more extraordinary, even 13 years later. Well done Triumph! Rating : 5/5
French Michel Model 2002
I've adopted a 2002 sprint st with 72M kms. It's pure bliss with her, as she'll take you anywhere without difficulty or fatigue. Having criss-crossed Croatia, the whole of southern France from east to west, and Corsica twice, I can say that it's in the right GT sport category. On the other hand, alone or in a duo, it's never exceeded 6L fuel consumption. Today, the bike has clocked up 121M kms in less than 2 years of riding, and 49M kms completed, which is still a pleasure. The only hitch on the bike is the regulator - I'm on my third, and I've taken it out on the outside of the frame behind the fairing, as recommended on the 1050. It takes other bikes by surprise, especially in the mountains, where its torque and engine availability leave a lot of bikes in the dust! It's not super nimble, but it has powerful braking and an impeccable chassis, except for the front and rear damping, which tires quickly and becomes too soft.
It's an excellent motorcycle, reliable, economical (unless you switch to Triumph!) and very roadworthy GT for long-distance travel, with a range of 300kms that's welcome depending on the region or country you're in. Bonne Route

French Titi Model 2001
Good bike, very comfortable solo and duo. High bubble recommended for taller riders on long trips. Very pretty with its original suitcase kit, well integrated into the line.
Good chassis for touring. For sporty use, the brakes, rigidity and, above all, ground clearance are poor. I had to remove the center stand!
Very torquey engine and very smooth running: female passengers appreciate it! Once again, lacking in power and character for sporty use.

French will74 Model 1999
Beautiful bike (lines, single-arm, integrated turn signals), we don't see many of these on our roads, but once in use, we're charmed by the torque, the length of this fabulous engine and what a sound (especially with the Triumph carbon pot). The front brake is excellent (very good feel + power), as are handling, cornering and overall comfort (duo)
We are less seduced by the average protection on freeways (bubble), the really limited lighting at night (coupled is better) and the price of accessories
The range (300 km with no problem), low fuel consumption (5 l/100) and very good storage space under the seat make this a good GT sport bike, really lively but weighing 250 kgs with full tanks (+ the man and possibly the passenger), so be careful at low speeds and especially in the rain..
Try it out and compare it with a VFR 800 avant Vtec, an Aprilia RST Futura, or a Ducati ST2 to make the right choice.

superb machine no problem at 46500 km super torque no need to retrograde it starts at all rpm only drawback the original bubble is too low Rating : 5/5
French umph Model 1999
i owned a sprint st from 2001 to2005 and i can say it's a great bike, i've done
42000kms, with the original chain kit, no breakdowns, inexpensive maintenance
that doesn't consume a lot of fuel, plus it's got a great face
Rating : 5/5
French Kheops Model 1999
The only downside, I suppose, is the cost of maintenance...well, it's a Triumph and resale is very difficult too. Otherwise, as the owner of a VFR Vtec, it's in terms of low-end torque that the Triumph comes off better, otherwise I much prefer my VF' ;o) Rating : 5/5
French chessaxel Model 1999
i used to own a Sprint and found that the engine started to let go at around 40000kms. Overall a good machine, apart from the selector which refused to shift into certain gears at times (I had a few scratches at 140kms/h as I approached a bend). The rear brake tended to lock the wheel quite easily! Otherwise what torque and what a lovely song above 6000rpm!!!! Rating : 5/5
