presentation of the 1200 Thruxton RS édition DGR 2021
There was a time when the biker was associated with an image of a black jacket; borderline loubard, deeply rebellious, covered in courage, oil and speed.
But times have changed, and over the past decade, a new idea has been gaining ground: the Distinguished Gentleman's Ride. A parade where elegance is the watchword.
Get your bike ready, choose a nice 60s-style suit, and present yourself as both distinguished and good-looking! Triumph supports this event. The sportiest model in the range has been chosen to celebrate the DGR's 10th anniversary: the 1200 Thruxton RS. A superb and unique representative, whose design underlines the tone.
The two-tone fuel tank suggests good manners. Like a suave black coffee cut with a thick slice of cream. It's also the display case for the DGR emblem: a cross formed by a 12 key and an umbrella. True English charm!
A sticker bearing the number 10 marks the anniversary, placed discreetly under the saddle. A DGR symbol appears on the rear of the café-racer's seat.
The Thruxton RS Distinguished Gentleman's Ride edition was created in Triumph's English workshops, in a limited edition of one. To end up in a museum, or to ride in this annual event?
To ride, but first for a good cause. Triumph decided to offer it as first prize in the Gentlefolk competition. To enter, you had to register as a collector and complete your profile on the DGR website, then collect at least $250. The winner was drawn at random from these participants.
A few million again closed the DGR 2021. Funds for prostate cancer research. From this movement born in Australia, a beautiful odyssey continues. Somewhere along the way, a beautiful lady is flying the flag for these values. A cafra with 105 hp and over 11 mkg at just 4,250 rpm. The 1200 Thuxton pushes generously from its big twin, and is well equipped: Brembo M50 brakes on 320 mm discs, 43 mm upside-down forks, Öhlins shock absorbers, three Riding Modes, traction control, ABS, sport tires and machined parts.
