presentation of the WR 450 F 2025
Yamaha is back at work on its new WR 450 F 2024. This is the lightest, slimmest and fastest 450cc enduro bike ever built by the brand. Based on the latest-generation YZ 450 F, which has demonstrated its full potential with victories in MXGP and AMA Supercross, the new WR 450 F stands out for its performance, always-controllable power and optimum agility.
The styling of this new enduro has been radically revised, with the super-compact bodywork taken from the latest YZ 450 F, already widely acclaimed for its impressive agility. The WR 450 F 2024 benefits from numerous enduro-specific design and tuning changes - including a revised ECU with refined FI mapping, revised chassis rigidity and suspension settings with lower ride height - as well as a larger fuel tank and specifications entirely tailored to enduro riding.
all-new, stronger and lighter YZ 450 F engine
Developed on the basis of the YZ 450 F block, the WR 450 F's latest-generation inverted-head engine develops increased power thanks to a new high-performance intake that benefits from a redesigned flow, offering a more direct path to the 39 mm-diameter titanium intake valves.
Lighter and sleeker than its predecessor, this high-tech 450 cm3 dry-sump engine also features a new forged piston, lighter cylinder body, new connecting-rod bearing, and new timing chain, all designed to support superior performance.
enhanced performance thanks to efficient airflow management and injection tuning
The intake system of the WR 450 F 2024 has been completely redesigned. Fresh air now flows through the space between the fuel tank, frame, seat and side covers into the airbox. The new short muffler improves mass centralization and underlines the WR 450 F's compact feel. The ECU has also been redesigned, and its specific FI settings are designed to deliver more controllable power at low revs, with strong, linear torque and exceptional performance at medium and high revs.

To benefit from reduced weight and a lighter feel, the WR 450 F 2024 features a newly designed spring-plate clutch with eight WR-specific optimized friction plates. The primary gear and housing are integrated, and the six springs of the previous model are replaced by a single disc spring that offers greater control when pulling away and slipping the clutch when exiting slow bends.
lightweight 5-speed long-ratio gearbox
The new 5-speed long gearbox features wider spacing between the main and drive shafts, and the main shaft gears are wider for increased durability and reduced weight. Spaced gears enable the rider to achieve optimum performance on all types of terrain, whether slow and technical or fast and wide.
new compact aluminum chassis
The new WR 450 F chassis takes the general design of the last-generation YZ 450 F and features a number of specific technical modifications to ensure its suitability for enduro racing. The main change to the new frame is the repositioned head tube, which is 15 mm lower than before. Combined with modified tank rails that incorporate a new U-profile at the rear, the 2024 aluminum double-beam frame lowers the center of gravity, which translates into greater agility when changing direction.
Compared to the cross-country YZ 450 F, the WR 450 F enduro frame benefits from revised flex characteristics to increase shock absorption. By allowing a slight lateral flex when absorbing shocks on rough terrain, the WR 450 F frame offers a more forgiving behavior that contributes to reduced rider fatigue and improved feel. Other new enduro-specific features include special engine mounts with an extra degree of flexibility.
slimmer, more compact bodywork for greater mobility
The all-new WR 450 F bodywork features slimmer covers, 50 mm narrower than before, as well as a much slimmer mid-section and flatter seat profile that make it easier for the rider to change position under braking, acceleration and cornering.
Compact side panels contribute to efficient rear air intake, while smaller front and rear mudguards emphasize the WR 450 F's narrowness. The new front fender also improves airflow to the radiators for more efficient cooling, and the newly shaped rear fender incorporates a contoured lower section that makes it easier for the rider to grip the bike.
kYB suspensions with shorter travel for reduced seat height
The WR 450 F's class-leading KYB front and rear suspensions are renowned for their excellent performance at different speeds and on different terrain. Compared to the latest YZ 450 F, the WR 450 F 2024 benefits from 10 mm less travel front and rear, allowing for a lower seat height and center of gravity. The combined effect of the machine and rider sitting 10 mm lower makes a significant difference to the bike's handling, particularly in low-speed corners on technical terrain.
The riding position of the WR 450 F 2024 has been revised: the footrests have been moved down to increase the distance between the rider's hips and feet by 10 mm, and the handlebars have been moved slightly closer to the rider. This new steering triangle offers a more natural riding position for a greater sense of rider/machine unity and better chassis control.
The KYB fork incorporates a new manual compression damping adjuster for tool-free adjustment. What's more, the combination of reinforced fork seals and redesigned fork protectors, offering tubes better protection against dirt and debris, helps extend seal life.

Yamaha was the first to offer wireless tuning on its 4-stroke off-road competition models, and the WR 450 F's Power Tuner application has been further enhanced. In its new version, the app offers a quick-tuning function that makes it easy to select any engine setting, to favor smoothness or aggressiveness, simply by playing with a scroll bar. It's an obvious and intuitive function for selecting different engine power settings according to conditions - and the new Lap Timer function lets drivers and teams discover the most effective settings.
The Power Tuner application also retains the previously available 4x4 matrix (16 values), enabling drivers to make finer adjustments to power and ignition timing.
new traction control system
Every feature of the new WR 450 F has been designed to give the rider optimum control in all conditions, and the new traction control system is another example of how this high-tech enduro machine has been designed to enable riders of all experience levels to reach their full potential. Featuring two levels of assistance and an OFF function, this electronic control technology temporarily removes power using ignition control when rear wheel slip is detected.
multifunction handlebar switch
The rider can easily select different engine maps and traction control settings using the multifunction switch on the left side of the handlebars. Personal mappings can be downloaded to the bike using the Power Tuner app, and the best settings can be selected "on the fly" for best performance in changing riding conditions.
ready to endure
The WR 450 F is ready to endure. It features a lightweight 18" rear wheel, enduro tires, lighting, instrumentation, side stand and radiator fan. The fuel tank is larger than that of the YZ 450 F (7.4 liters) and the airbox is accessible without tools, while an engine shoe and enduro muffler complete its features.

what is the full weight? Rating : 5/5 Respond to Nico 044
I think the machine must weigh between 130 and 140kg fully loaded. But I can't confirm this, as the manufacturer doesn't mention this information.

A motorcycle magazine comparison of the wrf and crf weighed a verdic 112 kg for the wrf.
I've got one, and it's true that it's a little overweight compared with a 2-stroke, but it's top-of-the-range, it pulls like crazy, and if you want to have fun, it moves! Rating : 5/5 Participate in the conversation
