presentation of the WR 450 F 2019
more power, more flexibility and more versatility.
the all-new WR 450 F celebrates 20 years of Yamaha enduro four-stroke production with a completely new design. It offers more power, increased flexibility, greater versatility and maneuverability. The 2019 model retains the characteristics that have made it one of the most popular 450 cm3 enduro models, namely rock-solid stability, legendary reliability and outstanding performance.
in the two decades since the first WR-F, the WR 450 F has become renowned for its linear power and reliability. These key elements have made the WR 450 F the motorcycle of choice for off-road enthusiasts and seasoned racers alike.
since its initial launch in 1998, the WR-F's engine has grown from 400 cm3 to 426 cm3, and the latest-generation inverted cylinder head engine is 450 cm3. The new 2019 model has been perfected using advanced engine and chassis technologies derived from those of the latest YZ450F platform.
wR 450 F: designed for victory whatever the terrain
wR-Fs have proven their race-winning potential in a wide variety of off-road events. In the FIM Enduro World Championship, riders Jamie McCanney (E1) and Loïc Larrieu (E2) belonging to the Outsiders Yamaha Official Enduro Team battled for top spot throughout the year, while Loïc Larrieu claimed a sensational victory at the 2017 ISDE against the world's best riders. The Isle of Man rider and the Frenchman have established Yamaha as one of the world's leading players.
at the 2018 Dakar, Yamalube Yamaha Official Rally Team rider Adrien Van Beveren held the overall lead on his WR 450 F Rally for five days until an unfortunate crash on stage 10. With a stage win and three other stage runner-ups, Frenchman Van Beveren proved the WR 450 F's winning credentials in the toughest possible environment.
in addition to the legendary Dakar Rally, the Yamalube Yamaha Official Rally Team riders also took part in a full season of off-road rallies around the world. The experience gained has contributed to the development of the new WR 450 F.
more powerful 450 cm3 inverted engine
the all-new WR 450 F features an inverted-head engine with a rearward-tilted cylinder that helps ensure ideal mass centering. Developed from the YZ450F, the new engine features enduro-specific intake and exhaust systems, advanced fuel injection and ignition mapping. This 450 cm3 four-valve engine delivers linear power across a wide rpm range, and with excellent traction, the WR 450 F offers more punchy performance for benchmark times on special stages.
the more powerful engine produces more usable power and offers more precise throttle control in technical sections. With a lighter, more refined chassis, the WR 450 F rider can maintain a more sustained pace in all circumstances.
new settings via your smartphone with the Power Tuner app
thanks to on-board Wi-Fi, you can tune the new WR 450 F to different tracks and weather conditions using your smartphone. In conjunction with the communication control unit available in the optional race kit*. The new Power Tuner app gives all WR 450 F riders the ability to make instant fuel injection and ignition changes, download and share data for perfect optimization on the track.
the free Yamaha Power Tuner app also allows owners to record race log information and monitor a range of data such as system maintenance and diagnostics, engine uptime and more.
(* Racing kit available separately)
adjustable motor mode switch
a switch for choosing between 2 mappings accessible on the handlebar and positioned next to the clutch lever. It allows changes in engine power characteristics at mid-range. This switch allows the rider to select one of the two engine maps on the fly at the touch of a button. Together with the higher torque of the new engine, this mode selector optimizes the versatility and adaptability of the new WR 450 F.
double-sided aluminum frame
developed on the basis of the latest YZ450F, the all-new aluminum double-beam frame is slimmer and lighter, making it easier to handle.rale aluminum frame is thinner and lighter, giving a lighter, more flexible feel on twisty, rocky and technical terrain. Frame upgrades improve precision and pulling power.
optimum front and rear suspension
the WR 450 F uses a sophisticated suspension system that improves shock absorption at low and medium speeds.
the separate KYB® inverted air/oil forks feature new, longer, high-load internal springs, providing stable damping characteristics in all conditions.stable damping characteristics on all types of terrain, while bending-resistant outer tubes enhance ground contact. This front suspension system is recognized as one of the best available on a production off-road motorcycle. It particularly improves the transition phase between compression and rebound.
the rear shock absorber is also based on the YZ450F model and, like the fork, features settings specific to an enduro model. Its new 11.5 mm-diameter coil spring weighs 350 grams less and offers greater wear resistance than the current model. For more stable operation and damping, the shock absorber reservoir capacity has been increased by 30 cm3.
new fuel tank
to increase riding time, the 2019 WR 450 F features a new, large-capacity 7.9-liter plastic fuel tank with a compact fuel pump. The increase in fuel capacity has been achieved by extending the lower section of the tank towards the center of the bike - a change that improves mass centering and refines the trim to enhance rider comfort and mobility.
new cladding and headlamp
riders will appreciate just how much the WR 450 F has changed for 2019. And those new to Yamaha four-stroke enduro bikes will be impressed by its ergonomics. The new frame has enabled Yamaha designers to adapt a much slimmer bodywork that more closely resembles that of a 250, making it one of the most compact 450 enduro bikes. Weight distribution has also been improved. The overall impression of lightness and suppleness is reinforced by the new headlamp plate, which sits lower and closer to the rider, giving the bike a more racy look.
the WR 450 F also features new, more compact radiators that facilitate the installation of narrower, closer radiator covers. This contributes to mobility and better stand-up pilot control. The new covers also feature wear-resistant molded graphics that accentuate the athletic lines of the new trim.
improved shoe and new speed sensor
the new model benefits from a new, larger and lighter plastic resin boot designed to protect the frame, engine, hoses and water pump. Its close-fitting front area prevents mud and stones from accumulating in the cavities around the crankcases, thus reducing weight.
for faster, easier front-wheel removal, the new Yamaha enduro is equipped with a new type of speed sensor.
quick-release air filter
to facilitate maintenance, the WR 450 F is equipped with an all-new air box that allows the filter to be changed without tools. The new filter element offers improved filtration.
lighter clutch and 5-speed gearbox
the new clutch provides smoother shifting and better control of the clutch lever, making it easier to handle difficult conditions.
the new WR 450 F features a 5-speed transmission with modified gear teeth. Gear shapes have also been revised.
narrower, lower saddle
whether you're sitting or standing, the new slimmer saddle makes it easier to shift your body weight. As well as being 2 cm thinner at the front, the middle and rear sections of the saddle are also lower, allowing you to move more easily backwards or forwards for better control when cornering, accelerating or braking.

what is the full weight? Rating : 5/5 Respond to Nico 044
I think the machine must weigh between 130 and 140kg fully loaded. But I can't confirm this, as the manufacturer doesn't mention this information.

A motorcycle magazine comparison of the wrf and crf weighed a verdic 112 kg for the wrf.
I've got one, and it's true that it's a little overweight compared with a 2-stroke, but it's top-of-the-range, it pulls like crazy, and if you want to have fun, it moves! Rating : 5/5 Participate in the conversation
