Yamaha is making significant upgrades to its WR 450 F for 2027 to offer riders greater control while maintaining a strong focus on tackling enduro challenges. It features Yamaha’s latest engine innovations, including a new camshaft timing optimized for enduro riding to deliver a smooth power curve while reducing the tendency to stall, giving the rider greater confidence on all trails.

An all-new chassis complements the power of the 450 cm³ engine, which has been tuned to offer balanced stiffness, thereby providing the rider with greater comfort and control on all terrains. The engine’s character has been optimized to prioritize power at low and mid-range RPMs, tailored for off-road riding. The new intake manifold design delivers power more linearly, thereby improving control of the machine. Modifications to the valve train stabilize combustion, while the increased inertia of the magnetic flywheel (alternator) promotes a smooth power delivery, ideal for technical sections and low-speed riding. These two improvements also enhance resistance to stalling at low RPMs. To further optimize power delivery—particularly on smooth trails ridden in third gear—the rear sprocket has been increased by one tooth (from 50 to 51 teeth).

The new frame on the 2027 model offers an optimal balance between stiffness and flexibility. The front frame tube has been redesigned to ensure high stability and better front-end feel, thereby improving cornering performance. The shock absorber has been updated and features a new piston that improves damping force at very low speeds while expanding the adjustment range. It also features a new manual slow-compression adjustment knob, making it easier to make adjustments right on the trail.

These chassis and suspension upgrades make the bike more versatile, whether in tight, slow corners or on wide, fast turns. Offering increased comfort and front-end control in technical sections, the new WR 450 F is more agile when entering turns, makes it easier to choose and maintain a line, and delivers superior cornering performance.

A new hydraulic clutch ensures smooth, consistent engagement with less effort, while eliminating the need for adjustments while riding. In addition, the new design of the clutch’s inner hub allows for lubrication over a larger surface area, thereby ensuring consistent performance and durability.

The new, lighter rear brake components feature reduced dimensions (brake disc, master cylinder, and piston diameter). This upgrade improves rear braking control and results in a total weight reduction of 180 g.

The improved rear braking system, featuring a new brake hose material, combined with a redesigned caliper shape and a smaller brake disc, allows the rider to maintain total control on steep descents. The industry-leading KYB suspension rounds out the package: its enduro-optimized tuning provides a lower center of gravity, ensuring better control at low speeds.

The hydraulic clutch reduces rider fatigue during long rides. It offers excellent feel and improved handling on rough terrain. Thanks to reduced pull force, the rider can easily control the engine, especially in extreme conditions and when riding enduro at low speeds.

The 2027 model’s design has been updated with a sleeker rear fender and new WRF graphics. The seat also features a new honeycomb-patterned cover that makes it easier to slide forward when braking while limiting backward slippage during acceleration. This model is equipped with Yamaha’s “Power Tuner” app, an industry standard that allows for intuitive engine tuning via sliders (“Quick Setting”) and offers features such as traction control, launch control, and ECU lock.
