presentation of the YZ 250 F 2027
More power, optimal handling, greater reliability, and easier maintenance—the Yamaha YZ 250 F knows exactly how to aim for the top of its class. It’s taking it all to the next level for 2027.
All-new engine for more power and torque
The 250 features an all-new 249cc liquid-cooled, double overhead camshaft (DOHC) single-cylinder 4-stroke engine, which delivers more power and torque across the entire operating range while complying with noise regulations.
To achieve the desired performance gains, Yamaha has developed an all-new valve system. The intake valves now use poppet valves, which help lighten the valve train. The rocker arms are sourced from Yamaha’s flagship Supersport model, the R1. The intake valve springs feature a dual-spring design, a first for a model in the YZ series. The use of a wrap-around spring seat allows for greater freedom in the shape of the intake port, thereby increasing air intake flow. Consequently, the compression ratio has been increased from 13.8:1 to 14.1:1, thanks to a new piston featuring a thinner, lighter top ring and a wider piston pin.
The crankshaft has also been redesigned, with an increased shaft diameter and a revised journal shape to optimize balance and reduce weight. The connecting rod bearing now features a plain design. To achieve a crisp torque feel and stable control at low speeds, the rotor inertia has been increased by 8%. The timing chain and tensioner on the YZ 250 F have been updated to ensure smoother operation and improve reliability.
With a maximum rpm increased by 700 rpm, the new engine delivers linear power across a wide rpm range and excellent top-end performance.
Thanks to a complete overhaul of the air filter and exhaust system, including the integration of new exhaust valve springs designed to improve operational stability, the YZ 250 F complies with current noise regulations. The exhaust note has also been tuned to deliver a pleasant, high-quality sound.

Improved on-track performance
The drivetrain has been completely redesigned to handle the increased engine power while offering greater reliability. The upgraded components reduce weight, enhance strength, and improve durability, resulting in greater reliability. For example, the gearbox features a new gear layout and new gear ratios, while the width of the sprockets and the number of teeth have been increased. The YZ 250 F also adopts the same dry-sump lubrication system asthe YZ 450 F, ensuring stable oil flow to support the increased engine speed and power.
The bike is now equipped with the same hydraulic clutch asthe 2026 YZ 450 F, maintaining a constant slip point even under racing conditions for stable and reliable performance. Thanks to a stronger spring and a model-specific clutch hose, the clutch lever offers a natural, responsive, and light feel, as well as smoother engagement, ensuring handling comparable to that of a cable clutch.
To help riders optimize performance across a wide range of conditions, the traction control and launch control settings have been revised to match the characteristics of the new engine, while the latest version of the Power Tuner app allows for precise adjustments to optimize engine performance and behavior.
Thanks to the optimized engine and improved riding feel, both beginners and experts have noted a significant performance improvement during real-world testing of the new YZ 250 F.
New Chassis: Optimized Performance and Feel
To deliver optimal stability, unmatched cornering performance, and precise front-end feedback, all while boasting a championship-winning style, the new YZ 250 F adopts the frame, suspension, and bodywork ofthe YZ 450 F, the flagship model of Yam's Off-Road lineup.
With specific settings optimized for the YZ 250 F, the new chassis ensures remarkable stability, excellent cornering performance, and a smooth, confident front-end feel. The new chassis offers better absorption of bumps and uneven surfaces, resulting in improved traction and more precise handling.
The shape and thickness of the front and rear engine mounts have been revised for optimal rigidity in line with the new frame and more powerful engine. This improves comfort and stability on straights, and gives the chassis greater maneuverability, with predictable response in the event of unexpected impacts.
The front and rear suspensions use the same parts and components asthe YZ 450 F, with settings specific to the YZ 250 F for optimal performance. The rear shock absorber features new hydraulic settings. The enhanced damping allows the wheels to follow the terrain with greater precision. From the beginning to the end of the shock’s stroke, excellent shock absorption and increased comfort improve overall traction.

Powerful braking with a unique character
The rear brake system has been redesigned for better control. The size of the master cylinder piston and the rear brake caliper piston has been reduced, while the diameter of the rear brake disc has been decreased (from 240 mm to 220 mm). Additionally, the rear brake pedal is now secured with bolts rather than rivets for easy replacement.
In addition to reducing weight, these modifications deliver braking performance characterized by linear power build-up, optimized braking force, and improved modulation. The bike thus precisely absorbs road irregularities throughout the turn, from entry to exit, for optimal control. The predictable response to unexpected bumps reduces rider fatigue, allowing the rider to keep pushing harder for longer.
A Distinctively YZ Look
True to the YZ series heritage, the YZ 250 F now shares its fairing with the flagship YZ 450 F.
The front number plate features a compact, sleek profile, while the routing of the hoses behind the plate contributes to the overall elegance.
The side covers consist of two elements, creating a two-tone effect that emphasizes their compactness and further highlights the horizontal lines characteristic of the YZ series. The same lines are visible in the flowing contours of the rear fender.
The seat features a honeycomb pattern that facilitates forward movement while reducing the risk of sliding backward. This allows the rider to freely adjust their body position when entering corners and to maintain a secure grip during hard acceleration.
The new YZ 250 F features the same bold graphics as the flagship YZ 450 F, a hallmark of the YZ series. With its exclusive color schemes and factory-team-inspired graphics, the YZ 250 F Monster Energy Edition boasts an even more race-ready replica look.

I have a problem with my 2017 YZF 250 motorcycle. It's been two times that I ride without problem a good part of the day and it dies when I fall and impossible to restart it.
I changed the spark plug, it was white and it did not change anything....
thank you Rating : 5/5 Respond to Goderre
for the rest it's expensive and not necessarily useful a line if you want to increase performance a little and the look counts in the 700â'¬ the line see more if you take in titanium and carbon end,
ignition in the 650â'¬ range etc etc ... Rating : 5/5 Participate in the conversation
