In 2013, this huge cruiser had discreetly refined its front end: its front mudguard hoop was removed. A minor modification, after all... In any case, enthusiasts are drawn to the essential: the deep beats of Yamaha's very big twin. Taking its place in this imposing and majestic cruiser, the twin is a brand-new engine, the first of a new generation of twin engines from Yamaha. An 1854 cm3 colossus offering even more fatness, torque, horsepower and "sensuality"... It's huge. This long-stroke, dual-ignition, air-cooled engine, with fuel injection, forged pistons and EXUP, produces 90 hp, but the most interesting part is yet to come: its monstrous torque exceeds 15 mkg at just 2,500 rpm. To filter out vibrations (only the good ones remain ;-), the engineers have wedged in a new right/left balancer system. The 2 balancers are positioned on either side of the crankshaft, minimizing clutter while preserving efficiency.
The type of oil cooling used on the Midnight Star is a first for a Yamaha cruiser. It effectively supports the role of the engine's fins (benefiting from the latest casting technology) to preserve the twin's reliability and longevity.
in terms of looks, there's nothing to complain about. It's handsome, long and strong, and commands respect in the grand tradition of big customs, with a retro feel that smacks of the rebellious years of the American heartland. Ogive-shaped indicators, a huge exhaust (less aggressive than the Warrior's bazooka), superb spoked rims, a singularly designed headlamp, a rear brake disc as wide as an old 33 rpm, chrome everywhere and a weight equivalent to 2 supersports in the range on the same scale. However, it's not good old steel but aluminum that is used in the design of the chassis. Created using die-cast aluminum technology, the frame features walls of varying thickness (same principle as the latest R1) to optimize rigidity. The swingarm is also die-cast.
In 2011, Yam introduced its U.B.S. (Unified Brake System) on the 1900 Midnight Star (and 1300), which improves braking by delivering simultaneous braking force to both wheels, front and rear, when the rider applies the rear brake.
Between the "power-cruisers" and the "very-big-customers", the war for "good vibrations" will continue to grow in size and cm3.

i have a 2011 XV1900 with 17000 kms and I'm having problems with the engine idling when hot, when I slow down at a stop sign or at a crossroads, the engine cuts out
Despite a visit to the dealer, the problem persists.

can anyone tell me if they have encountered an idle problem on this beautiful beast?
My bike is from 2012 and has only 1500 kms and I have recently encountered hot alenti problems. If you have the answer, I look forward to it. No problems when cold but when it's very hot the problem persists and despite an intervention by Yamaha still the same problem

That noise isn't coming from an oil pump, it's coming from a surge of electricity. This statement comes from an official article for Yam dealers
I don't think we can add an attachment, but if I find a way I'll post this document that says you should go back to conventional bulbs or whatever you may have modified, that may cause this inconvenience. Rating : 4/5 Participate in the conversation

I've owned a 2008 Midnight Star for 3 years now, and I've covered 15,000 km without any problems. The odometer now reads just over 30,000.
Since yesterday, like you Janot, I've had a clattering noise when shifting into 3rd gear and downshifting into 4th.
It's probably a fork problem, but I think you've solved this problem on your xv 1900 since 2016.
Can you tell me the real cause of this knocking and especially what to do to fix it.

yes indeed my problem has been solved
i bought this bike new from Yamaha in 2007
and it has always been serviced by them; the clacking on the 3rd gear was in the end 3 teeth broken on this pinion, so many hours of work of disassembly and reassembly Yamaha paid me half the price of the labor because apparently this problem had never happened before and paid me the parts

I had an xv1900 from 2006 (the first in the Lower Rhine, as I was told by moto Schlumpf Haguenau) and I was more than proud of it. And I said to myself that to fit in with the times and my age, I wanted to get a raod King, in short, so between Harley Softail Heritage, raod King and another goldwing that I've just sold and guess why????? Made for me! Huge torque (as much if not more than the >Suz 1800, but better tamed by the quality of the controls), decent flexibility for a bi, perfect braking, although not coupled, finish rarely seen on a motorcycle, intelligent mechanical solutions (culbus, air cooling) more than enough in this case

You know, I've got a VN2000 and I think this one's really nice, although the styling is very different... and here ... it's best to avoid a windscreen-style thing, because the only thing that can save your points is the wind blowing your head off... lol ... 100hp twins of this size are no laughing matter... I hope they have improved the ground clearance, vehicle with passenger and luggage compared to the WILDSTAR. It's a pity that the passenger footrest hasn't evolved (tendency to go backwards)
