presentation of the RSV 1000 R 2001

An RSV Mille, a few top-quality racing accessories, and you've got the RSV Mille R, or Racing. As with the standard version, the plastic has been slightly modified, with a revised fork crown, fairing sides and mechanicals. Above all, the special feature of the R is the addition of an adjustable Öhlins fork and shock absorbers, a lighter resin tank, a single-seat saddle, attractive, lighter OZ aluminum wheels for greater agility, and carbon mudguards. And yet, its appearance remains identical to the basic model. In the free version, its 60° V-twin develops 128 hp and impressive performance. It costs €2,287 more than the base model, but this price difference is well justified, as it features high-quality components. However, one wonders about the profitability of such a machine on the road, as few bikers use it, other than for the pleasure of owning it, or for the thing it's designed for, the track. There's also a 150 hp SP model, made from even more noble materials, but here the price is in excess of €30,000.

French Borgward Model 2002
A must-have road sportsbike with lots of personality, engine and looks. A comfortable, roomy, high-performance superbike that gives excellent sensations. The engine is less "explosive" than that of my ex-998, but it has more length and road performance is superior (probably due to the "comfort" of riding). The suspensions require a little trial and error to adapt to the secondary network, but once the right settings have been found, it's really a terrific tool. I still can't believe I'm getting so many features and quality equipment for 3400 eur with 28Mkm... Personally, 15x43 is an ideal final drive ratio (originally 16x42). Braking is excellent (progressive power) thanks to the P4 34/34 "three-bridge" 4-pad brake calipers, which replace the old P4 30/34 "two-bridge" two-pad calipers. Two weak points, however: the starter freewheel (absolutely identical to that of the 916/996/998, with the same "punition") and the fork spindles, which fail at around 20Mkm. Redoing the freewheel requires a minimum of skill, while refitting the Ohlins fork is quick and easy. A well-charged battery helps avoid freewheel problems. Mechanical accessibility is very good. Detail: the saddle/backrest compartment is big enough to hold a 400ml spray can, a rain jacket, a wallet, on-board tools and a short padlock, so you can ride "naked". If you have a budget of 3500 eur all inclusive, don't hesitate! Rating : 5/5

French brumeblanc Model 2003
i've owned an RSV1000 since December, not an R model, but as I don't ride on the track I don't see the point, as the suspension is very good and the braking irreproachable (the front only, the rear being non-existent) I don't see the point on the road unless I'm a constant danger to others, super machine, comfortable for a sports car and a formidable chassis, not to mention the V60, of which I have nothing but good things to say, except in town, because at less than 3000rpm it's a suplice, but a machine like the rsv isn't made for town, so ......., there you have it, a machine that's easy to live with on a daily basis and from which I derive nothing but pleasure Rating : 5/5
