presentation of the 1000 MONSTER 2003
the myth of the Monster, magnified and surpassed (by the S4R), remains that of a simple, uncluttered motorcycle with a strong character. To avoid being overshadowed by its long-toothed 800 sibling, Ducati offers this 1000 the new "Dual Spark" engine, originally developed for the Multistrada, but which also brilliantly powers this new monster and the 1000 SS. With performance similar to that of the S4, but with a more 2-valve character, the monster 1000 has become a tool that is both demonic and a tad more civilized! While on paper the gain is minimal - +6bhp but 1mkg of torque - the feel on the handlebars takes a huge leap forward. Available, virulent and furious, the monster 1000's engine pushes with supercharged vigor. While it's still punchy down low, it's more accommodating in town. At mid-range, it's an ecstasy, and even better, it now has superior extension. But that doesn't mean you can't play with the gearbox, which is excellent by the way. As for the chassis, rigidity remains imperial, with firmness and imperturbability going hand in hand when cornering. Braking is always top-notch.

I've had this model for 3 years now and I never tire of it.
The only drawback is that it clatters at low revs, but that's a mere detail.
If you're looking for a bike that kicks you in the ass every time you exit a corner, this is the bike for you.

My old mechanic always charged me for them but the new one tells me that there are no lozenges on this bike?

I own this magnificent bike. I can confirm that there is a valve set to be made every 20,000 km and a disc to be changed if necessary... Rating : 5/5 Participate in the conversation
