presentation of the CB 1000 Hornet SP 2025

"- Hello. For your budge', I have a Street Triple RS, a Monster, or this new 1000 Hornet SP
- Dac, but you have to add how much for the Honda?
- Uh, you misunderstood me. It's practically the same price."

That says it all. Honda has just dropped a gravity bomb on the roadster market. A 1000 cm3 roadster for the price of a 750/900, with 25% to 30% more power. But we're not talking about the standard version, which is even more affordable. We're talking about the SP, enriched with selected parts and a more upscale look.

There's no need to dwell on the general lines of the Hornet (they've already been turned upside down in the presentation of the standard model). Instead, let's appreciate its elegant black and gold color scheme. A combination widely used across models and manufacturers for its chic appeal. Outfitted in penumbra, the CB's rims, fork covers and stickers are enhanced by golden velvet.

A brighter yellow catches the eye at the rear. In terms of damping, the SP stands out with an Öhlins TTX36 shock absorber. A fine piece of equipment, renowned for its marked improvement in road efficiency. The Swedish element is adjustable in all directions, as is the 41 mm Showa SFF-BP inverted fork (identical to the standard model, except for the color).

The Öhlins brand is often associated with Brembo - whose marriage is a recent one. This will also be the case on the Hornet SP, which becomes the first Honda roadster to receive the Italian manufacturer's jaws as standard. Not just any jaws: Stylema - highly efficient 4-piston monobloc calipers, which the roadster has obviously borrowed from the CBR 1000 RR-R SP (from 2023; the current model is equipped with Stylema R). An Up&Down shifter completes the package on this machine, which is all about sportiness.
Du Brembo Stylema et du Öhlins sur la Honda CB 1000 Hornet SP

Sporty, yes, but on a human scale. Honda has no intention of going after the hyperfighters of the upper segment, and intends to give the power back to the rider with an engine and chassis in the format of a virulent roadster, not a stripped-down Superbike. Although the engine has its origins in this kind of machine (the 2017 Fireblade), the pot boasts a 157 hp that's less prone to madness; but pot-bellied nonetheless. But, we've seen 152 grunts for the 1000 Hornet???? Yes, for the standard version. One of the SP's bonuses is a gain of 5 horsepower. Torque is also up, but much more modestly: 2 nm to 107 units or 10.9 mkg. The engine-makers haven't touched the block to find its watts, but have installed an RC (Revolutionary Controlled) valve in the exhaust. It remains closed below 5,700 rpm, then breathes beyond that point so that the 4-cylinder can add coal to the boiler.
A boiler that has been significantly modified since the sporty model to fill the muscle throughout the rev range. What's more, it's combined with shortened gear ratios to enhance acceleration - except on the 6, which is designed to take it easy on the freeway.

Like its "little" 750 sibling, the Hornet has not sought to show off its chassis. Its tubular steel frame is quite simple, yet downright rigid. There are no large aluminum sections, the single-arm has disappeared, and there are no elements cut from the mass... This avoids pushing up the price while remaining efficient. Of course, not to the level of the hyper-honed motorcycles that 1% of our clientele can exploit. The 1000 Hornet is for anyone who wants to send out the big guns without sacrificing a kidney or dissecting a NASA manual to ride.
Honda CB 1000 Hornet SP

The Hornet doesn't renounce electronics, far from it, but offers a reasonable dose of them, like its potato and chassis. Riding aids include 5 riding modes (Standard / Sport / Rain / User 1 / User 2), 3-stage power arrival, 4-stage HSTC torque control, 3-stage engine braking and anti-wheeling.it also features rapid flashing in the event of sudden braking, a USB socket, full LED lighting, a 5-inch TFT speedo with triple thematic display, and Bluetooth pairing. By installing the RoadSync app on their smartphone, users can control their music, calls, simplified GPS navigation, some weather forecasts, and control certain functions by voice if there's the right gear in the helmet.

Not so long ago, a Kawa Z 1000 R with similar hardware was priced at over 14,000 euros (but with an aluminum frame). The 1000 Hornet SP is expected to come with 1,500 to 2,000 euros less, more horsepower and more electronics.
Until yesterday, the price of a big, slightly stuffy streetfighter was not very attractive. Today, Honda is reshuffling the deck with a motorcycle that has a high-end feel (Öhlins + Brembo + more horsepower), a desire to beat the crap out of people and both muscular and reasonable pretensions.... for a price estimated to be in the region of 12,000 euros. Admittedly, the slate isn't everything, but it's sure to attract a lot of curious onlookers.

In short, the ultra-smart Hornet SP gains :
- a special color
- 5 horsepower
- 2 Nm
- brembo Stylema brake calipers
- öhlins TTX36 shock absorber
- up&down shifter

Manufacturer recall in the following countries: France, Ireland, Portugal, Belgium, Croatia, Slovenia.

Due to a defect in the manufacturing, the indicator of the oil level is not functioning correctly. This could result in a reduction in oil pressure, which could lead to seizure of the connecting rod bearing, breakage of the connecting rod, or locking of the rear wheel. This could cause an accident. The oil spilling onto a hot silencer could cause a fire.

Personal paint job, after a 1290 KTM with nothing underneath, I find this bike precise, aggressive, and simple, with no unnecessary gadgets that drive up the price. It's a beautiful bike that gets the job done. Rating : 5/5
French Model 2025
Hi everyone, I tried out the "sp" yesterday at the Francorchamps Bikers Festival and here's my opinion. Very good bike in absolute terms, nothing to complain about, but the saddle is very hard and the suspension is bouncy on bumpy roads.
Very powerful engine but above 6000 rpm, below that it looks like a 600 4cyl, well balanced and good braking. Horrible muffler from the factory but mine had the SC- Project and the alcantara seat was very hard too! Like all Honda, very easy to ride but I found the quick-shifter a bit rough. Passenger comfort nil but it's a roadster. Dashboard rather small and less legible than the z900 which I tried afterwards and which seduced me more by its homogeneity and its comfort and also its engine rounder at the bottom . TMC in Belgium in favor of the Z900
Rating : 4/5
French Model 2025
A very good bike in this configuration, the chassis is very good. I had to slightly adjust the fork preload and a rail! The engine is torquey, has two faces and holds constant speeds well. Perceived quality is not a problem, there's no excess, but that keeps the price down! On the handlebars, it's easy to handle, and when you're out and about, it sits perfectly! Rating : 5/5
after a 1290 Duke, i settled on a 1000 hornet sp with sc Project, alcantara seat bubble, radiator grill, heated grips etc. this bike meets all my expectations in terms of an easy, docile, screaming two-wheeler. good luck to you all! Rating : 5/5
From speed to hornet
French Model 2025
I have a speed triple 1200 rs from 2021 I'm changing for a hornet sp because after trying it I find it more maneuverable the sound more raging and power level largely sufficient on road. electronics level it will remind me of my z900 from 2017 with only abs Rating : 5/5
J'en demande pas plus !!
French Model 2025
Techno is great, but I don't need or want so much stuff on a bike that will only be used on the road. I like to have watts, I rarely choose modes other than sport or standard on my bikes, I haven't tried this Honda yet but I went to the dealership yesterday to order the SP, I only chose the alcantara saddles option, the other options don't suit me. I don't even ask myself the question: is this a good bike? I have no doubts about that. Rating : 5/5

French Model 2025
I've seen many tests of this 1000 HORNET SP. I have to say that, given its price/performance/gratifying motorization ratio, and knowing that Honda still has a way of making easy, safe and reliable motorcycles, and with a price tag under €12,000 unlike the competition who take us for millionaires, I think I'm going to fall for this Hornet, which seems to me to have some spice in its black dress. Rating : 5/5

Bravo Honda for this good price!
Let's hope the competition follows suit!

It should be worth it considering the price compared to the competition because with their electronics that sell us expensive before a 1000 are worth in the 12 to 13 thousand now know almost 5000 euro more expensive the weight I do not care I have them motorcycle at 230 kilos all full did not bother and performance was for what now need 200 hp and 190 kilos to have fun ride with old motorcycle you will see the pleasure what provides Sorry for the pavement an old biker of 45 years good road to all new generation be careful Rating : 5/5
Spanish Model 2025
The bike is great, but the price below 12K is unthinkable, even for the standard model, which will be around 15K, and the SP model will be much closer to 17K Rating : 4/5

Surprising: in the old days, Suzuki bikes were the cheapest. Owners of the 750, the 1000 should be in the same style: simple, efficient and homogeneous. Worth testing! Rating : 5/5

1 Honda motorcycle, so it's probably homogeneous, easy and efficient, 5-year warranty, at this price it's hard to criticize the hideous exhaust. a real bargain.I'm going to buy the SP version. Rating : 5/5
