Motorcycle specifications HondaCB 1000 Hornet SP 2025 Totale offensive

"- Hello. For your budge', I have a Street Triple RS, a Monster, or this new 1000 Hornet SP
- Dac, but you have to add how much for the Honda?
- Uh, you misunderstood me. It's practically the same price."
That says it all. Honda has just dropped a gravity bomb on the roadster market. A 1000 cm3 roadster for the price of a 750/900, with 25% to 30% more power. But we're not talking about the standard version, which is even more affordable. We're talking about the SP, enriched with selected parts and a more upscale look.
There's no need to dwell on the general lines of the Hornet (they've already been turned upside down in the presentation of the standard model). Instead, let's appreciate its elegant black and gold color scheme. A combination widely used across models and manufacturers for its chic appeal. Outfitted in penumbra, the CB's rims, fork covers and stickers are enhanced by golden velvet.
A brighter yellow catches the eye at the rear. In terms of damping, the SP stands out with an Öhlins TTX36 shock absorber. A fine piece of equipment, renowned for its marked improvement in road efficiency. The Swedish element is adjustable in all directions, as is the 41 mm Showa SFF-BP inverted fork (identical to the standard model, except for the color).
The Öhlins brand is often associated with Brembo - whose marriage is a recent one. This will also be the case on the Hornet SP, which becomes the first Honda roadster to receive the Italian manufacturer's jaws as standard. Not just any jaws: Stylema - highly efficient 4-piston monobloc calipers, which the roadster has obviously borrowed from the CBR 1000 RR-R SP (from 2023; the current model is equipped with Stylema R). An Up&Down shifter completes the package on this machine, which is all about sportiness.
Sporty, yes, but on a human scale. Honda has no intention of going after the hyperfighters of the upper segment, and intends to give the power back to the rider with an engine and chassis in the format of a virulent roadster, not a stripped-down Superbike. Although the engine has its origins in this kind of machine (the 2017 Fireblade), the pot boasts a 157 hp that's less prone to madness; but pot-bellied nonetheless. But, we've seen 152 grunts for the 1000 Hornet???? Yes, for the standard version. One of the SP's bonuses is a gain of 5 horsepower. Torque is also up, but much more modestly: 2 nm to 107 units or 10.9 mkg. The engine-makers haven't touched the block to find its watts, but have installed an RC (Revolutionary Controlled) valve in the exhaust. It remains closed below 5,700 rpm, then breathes beyond that point so that the 4-cylinder can add coal to the boiler.
A boiler that has been significantly modified since the sporty model to fill the muscle throughout the rev range. What's more, it's combined with shortened gear ratios to enhance acceleration - except on the 6, which is designed to take it easy on the freeway.
Like its "little" 750 sibling, the Hornet has not sought to show off its chassis. Its tubular steel frame is quite simple, yet downright rigid. There are no large aluminum sections, the single-arm has disappeared, and there are no elements cut from the mass... This avoids pushing up the price while remaining efficient. Of course, not to the level of the hyper-honed motorcycles that 1% of our clientele can exploit. The 1000 Hornet is for anyone who wants to send out the big guns without sacrificing a kidney or dissecting a NASA manual to ride.
The Hornet doesn't renounce electronics, far from it, but offers a reasonable dose of them, like its potato and chassis. Riding aids include 5 riding modes (Standard / Sport / Rain / User 1 / User 2), 3-stage power arrival, 4-stage HSTC torque control, 3-stage engine braking and anti-wheeling.it also features rapid flashing in the event of sudden braking, a USB socket, full LED lighting, a 5-inch TFT speedo with triple thematic display, and Bluetooth pairing. By installing the RoadSync app on their smartphone, users can control their music, calls, simplified GPS navigation, some weather forecasts, and control certain functions by voice if there's the right gear in the helmet.
Not so long ago, a Kawa Z 1000 R with similar hardware was priced at over 14,000 euros (but with an aluminum frame). The 1000 Hornet SP is expected to come with 1,500 to 2,000 euros less, more horsepower and more electronics.
Until yesterday, the price of a big, slightly stuffy streetfighter was not very attractive. Today, Honda is reshuffling the deck with a motorcycle that has a high-end feel (Öhlins + Brembo + more horsepower), a desire to beat the crap out of people and both muscular and reasonable pretensions.... for a price estimated to be in the region of 12,000 euros. Admittedly, the slate isn't everything, but it's sure to attract a lot of curious onlookers.
