presentation of the KX 450 F 2027
Having been coasting on its past success since 2024, the Kawasaki KX 450 F is getting a major update.
KX 450 F? Yes, the F is back. This suffix was used to distinguish between 4-stroke and 2-stroke models in the years when both technologies coexisted. With the arrival of the KX 327 and its ported cylinder, the reintroduction of the F is entirely justified.
Developed in part thanks to feedback from reigning World Champion Romain Febvre, the new KX450F features numerous upgrades, the most notable of which is an all-new frame paired with a new swingarm. This new architecture offers a longer wheelbase to improve rear-end traction and machine control, while enhancing stability through revised front and rear suspension settings. Combined with engine upgrades and numerous other optimizations, the package contributes to even higher overall performance.
On the engine side, performance has been boosted by a redesigned intake and exhaust system, as well as optimized fuel injection settings. Engine response is more aggressive, with a stronger sense of power at low RPMs, complemented by a noticeable gain in the mid- and high-RPM ranges, particularly during acceleration out of fast corners.
Technologically, the “Power Mode” button on the left handlebar switch allows the rider to quickly switch between two engine maps. Two levels of KTRC traction control are also selectable from the handlebars. These settings, along with “Power Mode,” can be fine-tuned via the updated version of the RIDEOLOGY THE APP KX2 smartphone app. A race-inspired Launch Control system also makes its debut with a revised system that now includes an engine speed control function, allowing the rider to focus fully on the start.
Another new feature for 2027: The Brembo braking system now covers the entire setup and is no longer limited to just the calipers; the Italian manufacturer now also supplies Brembo master cylinders paired with aviation-grade hoses. In terms of ergonomics, the handlebars and Kawasaki ERGO-FIT footpegs are still adjustable to multiple positions to provide optimal control.
The KX 450 F also features new, sleeker, and more modern bodywork, highlighting Kawasaki’s iconic Lime Green while incorporating a touch of blue to unify the visual identity of the brand’s sport models.
