In 1973, MV-Agusta separated its aviation and motorcycle businesses.
But we don't care about that. Instead, let's turn the spotlight on the 750 Sport that appeared during this period, with its American color scheme and 789 cm3 4-cylinder - a little bigger than the European version.
This deco has stood the test of time, and is featured as a "50th anniversary celebration" on the Dragster 800 RR SCS America. In reality, the 750 S came out in 1970. But the Varese-based company doesn't mind skewing a few figures, especially for a special edition - in more ways than one.

Firstly, in a limited series. 300 units, authenticated with a certificate and a laser-engraved serial number on a plate screwed onto the fork crown.
Secondly, only sold in North America. MV-Agusta wants to show its good graces to the Americans.
Thirdly, a kit is supplied with it, including a transparent clutch cover (so you can gaze lasciviously or actively at the discs of the Rekluse mechanism), a protective cover and the aforementioned certificate.

Above all, there's that red and blue dress with the white protrusions. A true copy of Superman's costume, itself modelled on Uncle Sam's flag. It's been a fixture on some MV-Agusta models for years. It can be found on the 2005 Brutale 750 S, the 2012 Brutale 1090 RR, the 2017 800 Brutale, the following year's Brutale 800 RR, right up to its penultimate recipient, the 2019 Dragster 800. We particularly appreciate the two-tone seat, embellished with white "America Special Edition" embroidery on the rear flanks. Quite simply, Italian class.

While the design of this Dragster America 2023 is very similar to that of 2019, the model is much more advanced. The engine is in RR version, i.e. much more powerful, with 140 horsepower. The dashboard is a 5.5-inch TFT screen, and features a host of technologies, including inertial navigation, traction control, anti-wheeling, ABS cornering, launch control, cruise control, Shifter Up&Down, adaptive cornering lights and 4 driving modes.
The Kineo spoked wheels are still there, but the rear one is now hidden by a carbon flange. Stylish... or not...
The first name SCS is there to specify that the Dragster is equipped with a special clutch system, allowing almost automatic operation while remaining mechanical.

mV-Agusta is asking an extra $5,000 for this America version. But even with this disproportionate extension, the MV-Agusta Akrapovic exhaust system is optional. Shabby!
Too bad. Thanks to this titanium element + the ECU that goes with it, the Dragster RR is now rated at 148 hp.

This special model has been available since July 11, a week after the American national holiday. Even with its exaggerated price tag, there's no doubting its success. Unlike its '73 ancestor, which sold for three times the price of a CB 750 and sold less than 600 units in 6 years. But these days, people buy prestige before they buy a motorcycle, especially in the States.
