presentation of the 125 U Roadster 2025
Like all Chinese manufacturers, Zontes first develops its catalog of small-displacement bikes before thinking of larger models - it's only a matter of time. Its motorcycles share the idea of a fairly distinctive design, even if it means getting a lot of flak.
Surprising from start to finish
But the operation is having an effect: they're getting noticed. The same goes for the 125 Roadster, also known as the ZT125-U. An origami on wheels, packed with sharp edges and angles. From this geometric festival emerges a patient exhaust and a look as strange as it is technophile. Like it or not, this machine has a real personality.
With such a modern look, it's inconceivable that the Zontes should be fitted with an old engine like the low-cost models. In the case of this Zontes, propulsion is provided by a modern single-cylinder engine with 4 valves, liquid cooling and fuel injection, delivering a mere 15 hp at 9,000 rpm and a modest 13 Nm of torque. The Chinese engine is thus within the usual values for the category.
Very generous
In terms of equipment, the Zontes is incredible. The abundance is astonishing, both for the price and for the segment: keyless start and lock system, 12V and USB sockets, backlit switches, lever protection, full LED lighting, aluminum swingarm, anti-dribble clutch, huge 47 mm inverted fork; and a TFT screen since 2024. What's more, the quality of finish is there, the price is very competitive, the weight is right and it's easy to handle.
Like most 125s, it's compact - almost too compact for taller riders. Not everyone will have this problem. Most will be delighted by its agility, accessibility (the seat is 785 mm) and roadholding.
Success is here
The Zontes 125 U Roadster R deserves a closer look. The quality/price ratio is outstanding, and while the looks may surprise, the performance is sure to please. In fact, it's been a big hit with the public, with an enviable position in the top 125 sales rankings. In some years, even first place.
