presentation of the RSV4 1000 FACTORY 2011

the long-awaited new Aprilia RSV 4 made its debut at the Piaggio convention in Milan in February. In front of 1,200 privileged spectators, the Noale brand's new sporting jewel unveiled its "Race Machine" attributes and pretensions. An all-new, hyper-compact 1000 cc V4 (a video of which can be seen at the end of this article), open at 65°, over 200 hp in race configuration, and integral Ride by wire technology opening up new perspectives in traction control.

the choice of a V4 allows us to refine the bike's silhouette and aerodynamic coefficient as much as possible. The idea of this type of engine configuration brings a smile to the face, as it inevitably reminds us of the heyday of the Honda RC 30 and 45. The carbon silhouette of the machine already gave an appetizing glimpse of what the road version of the RSV4 would be like. Sharp, sometimes protruding lines, with a very aggressive tendency, on a brand-new chassis. A double aluminum beam with a very conventional design, anchoring at its ends an inverted fork with Brembo radial brake calipers and a very strong swingarm.

Aprilia RSV4 1000 FACTORY 2011 technical solutions that eschew originality for optimum efficiency. Eccentricity and avant-gardism are taken care of by machines like the FV2 1200 and 850 MANA. The RSV4 is designed to shake up its hypersport friends, just like the RSV 1000, which caused a stir in the sportbike comparo in the early 2000s.

and in September, here's its civilian version. This is the Factory version, with Öhlins suspension and a few carbon parts. And what can we say about its design, its look, its compactness...!?! A raptor, with a menacing triple look. Its new face is no longer pierced by a front air intake; forced air now passes through 2 gills located under the side headlights. The reduced fairing reveals the new frame where the famous 65° 1000 cc V4 resides. In terms of power, Aprilia is catching up with the Japanese by announcing an impressive 180 hp.

and 179 kg for a machine that smells more of the track than anything else. Aprilia has put a lot more into its new sports bike than just a nice, compact V4. The column angle is adjustable, as is the swingarm anchorage and the position of the engine in the chassis. Of course, the equipment is equally impressive, with Öhlins, an SBK-escaped swingarm, Brembo monobloc radial calipers, forged aluminum rims... and to take the lady along, that's going to be a problem: is it really a coincidence that the bike is shown with Diablo Superbike tires, an ultra-short rear frame with a single-seater seat and no passenger footrests? After dominating the 125 and 250 classes, Aprilia intends to put its stamp on its return to Superbikes, scheduled for 2009.
