Motorcycle specifications Ducati1299 Panigale S 2017 Fighting technique

With the 1299 Panigale, Ducati breaks free from the confines of Superbikes and lets its engine run riot in a frenzy of power. Previously, with 1199 cm3 and fighter-plane technology, the Superquadro shattered all the established benchmarks of the sport twin. And what if Ducati added 86 cm3 more, just to force-feed it even more, with torque and horsepower everywhere!?!! The boiler is a monster. Imprisoned in the Ducati 1299 Panigale S version, it can authorize all sorts of fantasies for many a tracker and enthusiast of high-pedigree machines.
The 1299 Panigale S takes advantage of 2017 to grab improvements to DTC and DWC, the in-house traction control and wheeling control. Dubbed EVO, these updates first appeared on the 1299 Panigale S Anniversario.
- DTC Evo has been optimized thanks to new algorithms, with the electronics acting more precisely. It allows the rider to push the limits a little further, acts on the intake butterflies in addition to ignition timing and fuel injection, and allows the rear wheel more freedom to glide at Level 1 than ever before.
- The DWC Evo uses the IMU inertial unit to control wheeling and optimize acceleration. With its new software, it more accurately detects the frequency and intensity of the front wheels and intervenes appropriately and precisely.
the Panigale demands total commitment from its rider. The 1299 S goes one step further, letting only the most discerning riders and those willing to sell their souls to get their hands on its half-guides. Taking control of a Superbike with 205 hp and over 14 mkg requires a serious technical background, composure and a certain devotion. The S version presented here can be enjoyed with even greater efficiency. For the aperitif, a carbon front fender, full LED headlights and Marchesini forged aluminum wheels. For the main course, top-of-the-range Öhlins semi-active suspension. A 43 mm NIX 30 inverted fork, TTX36 rear shock absorber and steering damper.
ducati S versions have been fitted with Swedish components for many years; in fact, it's their main distinguishing feature. The previous Panigale S version, the 1199, was already equipped with piloted components. Small motors controlled by the on-board control unit adjusted compression and rebound to suit the riding style selected. On the 1299, the suspension is much more advanced. They offer two modes: constant electronic adjustment according to the rider's wishes, or semi-active to respond dynamically to the road profile.
Öhlins' SMART EC system will warm up the neurons of high-voltage sports enthusiasts. The bike thinks for you, sensors replace your senses. In non-active pilot-controlled suspension mode, the riding mode (Race, Sport or Wet) defines the level of intervention of the steering assistants, as well as the appropriate settings for the fork, shock absorber and steering damper tension. Each has its own damping level, which remains in effect until the rider selects another. Top-notch for the track.
On the road, surface changes are much more frequent and random. No problem, just switch to semi-active mode. Thanks to all the signals it receives, the Panigale 1299 S "sees" the road. It adjusts damping behavior in real time, taking into account the rider's desired "behavior level", from hard to soft.
This is great stuff, under the constant control of the electronics, which are overabundant on board. Whether it's the Panigale 1299 or the S, the list of modules is plethoric. Enough to make a geek panic. Let's take a brief look at the forces at work:
- An ABS, the Bosch 9MP, working via Brembo M50 calipers. It also regulates cornering braking via the on-board Inertial Measurement Unit.
- EBC, engine braking control on 3 levels
- DTC Evo traction control, adjustable on 8 levels
- DQS shifter, for upshifting and downshifting without touching the clutch lever
- DWC Evo wheeling control, adjustable over 8 levels
- and Riding Modes, for modifying the Panigale's character and level of efficiency. They are programmed with pre-defined levels for each assistance. Race commands a direct throttle response and maximum efficiency from the electronic kickstands; Sport offers less radical, road-sport-like performance; Wet makes the Panigale more responsive to the throttle.the Wet setting reduces power to 120hp and delivers it in a more considerate way, with DTC, DWC, ABS and EBC set for maximum safety. For the most discerning, parameters can be modified to personalize co-piloting to the extreme.
- As an option, you can indulge yourself with DDA+ GPS, the GPS-coupled data acquisition system.
Over-equipped, the Panigale also boasts a striking design, first seen on the first-generation 1199. No more steel trellis, but a maximum number of parts anchored to the engine. A steering column held in place by a monocoque structure acting as airbox and minimalist frame, whose 24° angle is 0.5° more recessed than on the previous model. A bewitching dress in more ways than one, and exacerbated sportiness. All this for just 166.5 kilos, 2.5 more than its predecessor.
destined to offer maximum riding pleasure to those who know how to ride it, the Ducati 1299 Panigale S has closed the doors to competition due to its excessive displacement. It's the Panigale R sibling that takes care of the Superbike explanations. No loss of prestige. But pleasure comes at a price. Not just the one displayed before the euros; the one that encourages you to surpass yourself and give yourself entirely to it. Don't think you're the strongest! Its twin and its personality are stronger.
