Showa is a highly reputed Japanese suspension brand. Founded in 1938, the Gyoda-based brand initially developed with aircraft landing gear. After the Second World War, Showa branched out into motorcycle production in 1953. The company was approached by a promising young company: Honda.
The two companies have been close to each other ever since, both for production motorcycles and for HRC. But Showa also supplies numerous manufacturers. Today, Showa isone of the world's largest manufacturers in this sector.
Its best-known technical solutions include SFF (Separate Function Forks) technology and EERA (Electronic Equipped Ride Adjustment) semi-active management.
In 2021, Showa will join the ASTEMO Group - a conglomerate comprising Hitachi Automotive System, Keihin and Nissin Kogyo. The group is 66% owned by Hitachi and 33% by Honda.
