presentation of the KX 250 F 2017
The arrival of the new 2017 KX 250 F is shaping up to be a major event for Kawasaki fans, as it will be supported by Team Green, customers and many future MX2 successes.
building on the success of its 4-stroke predecessors, the new 250 in the KXF range boasts somefeatures that will surprise as well as seduce, such as greater power, a weight reduction of 1.7 kilos, and a host of technical and stylistic improvements. Indeed, for the first time on a production KX, graphics are molded directly onto the plastics.
the acceleration of the gas mixture thanks to the adoption of a more vertical intake and repositioned dual injectorsthe KX 250 F's engine is even more efficient, allowing it to better exploit the potential of its chassis.
the engine features an even lighter bridge-box piston and a cylinder offset to the rear to improve efficiency. This technique is used not only on the KX 450 F, but also on ultra-high-performance machines such as the Ninja ZX-10R and Ninja H2.
endurance is a prerequisite for all competitors, and for 2017, the new KX 250 F adds it to its legendary reliability thanks to the surface treatment of the cylinder and connecting rod bearings. The new treatment technique enhances the surface finish of the cylinder wall, improves lubrication and reduces friction.
the adoption of bearings in place of the needle cage on the connecting rod reflects a philosophy of reducing mechanical losses.
The engine loses a total of 800 grams, while the entire chassis is reduced in weight by almost 1 kilo. The SFF type 2 fork and Uni-Trak rear suspension offer revised settings for greater smoothness and improved feel. Thinner by 6 mm, the new chassis weighs 90 grams less than the 2016 model. The swingarm now has an ideal thickness, contributing to a weight reduction of 190 grams.
according to Steve Guttridge, in addition to the three DFI engine mapping plugs as well as the optional KX FI injection calibration tool, the new 2017 KX 250 F is a logical and very interesting evolution of the KX 250 F Dynasty.
"The 250cc class is very important to us, and it's crucial to have a high-performance, competitive machine both for the official MXGP teams and for competitors in national and local events. And we mustn't forget to make it accessible to all the enthusiasts who choose the KX 250 F for their leisure activities! Bringing all these requirements together is no easy task, but for 2017 KHI has succeeded in this crazy challenge by offering a machine capable of satisfying all Kawasaki riders, whatever their level of commitment."
